Social Change for Afghan Women Organization

Introduction

SCAWO is a non-governmental, non-political and non for profit organization, officially registered with ministry of economy of Afghanistan in 2014. SCAWO is led by a professional group of youth, women and men, for promoting human rights, women and youth empowerment and their role’s enhancing in decision making process, advocacy for children and marginalized groups’ rights, bringing positive changes in women and youths’ social life, literacy and effective educational and health care services delivery.  SCAWO is also working for changing false and incorrect cultures related to women and youth life in the society.

This professional group of young men and women with their expertise and experience from national and international communities have come together to work for;  bringing sense of accountability in both side government and society, peace building, democratization, human rights, rule of law, gender equality and civic education. While elimination or at least decreasing violence against women and child labor and using their potential for building a bright future instead, came to one of their important priorities.

Afghanistan suffers from conflict, corruption, illiteracy, lack of respect for human rights (especially for women, youths and disabled groups); hence, SCAWO supports its targeted communities’ efforts to build the conditions for stable, secure and equitable development by promoting good governance.
