Comprehensive Emergency Response and Support for Vulnerable Families in Kandahar Province

15th April 2025 – 14th April 2026 Kandahar, Afghanistan

Comprehensive Emergency Response and Support for Vulnerable Families in Kandahar Province

The proposed project aims to address the urgent needs and enhance the resilience of vulnerable women and girls in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, particularly those affected by natural disasters, socio-political instability, and forced displacement. The expected changes include:

1. Increased Financial Security: Providing Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) to forcibly displaced women and girls, women with disability, and other vulnerable women will empower them to meet their basic needs, reduce vulnerability, and promote autonomy.
2. Improved Living Conditions: Distribution of Standard Emergency Shelter Kits and Non-Food Items (NFI) will help women-led households affected by recent floods and/or those who are forcibly returned from Pakistan to have minimum shelter equipment for residence, repair and rehabilitate their homes, ensuring safer and more stable living environments.
3. Enhanced Food Security and Hygiene: Providing in-kind food baskets and WASH/Menstrual Hygiene Kits will ensure that, forcibly displaced women and girls, women and girls with disability and survivors of GBV and women-led households who are affected by recent floods and/or who are forcibly repatriated from Pakistan, have access to essential food supplies and hygiene products, promoting their health and well-being.
4. Better Health and Well-being: Mobile Health Clinics/Teams will deliver essential basic healthcare services, while psychosocial support will address the mental health needs of all the beneficiaries including women and girls and women-led households, contributing to their overall well-being.
5. Strengthened Community Protection: Training sessions will build the capacity of FDWG-SN network members in community-based protection initiatives, mental health support, response to GBV, emergency response, emergency health services, and general humanitarian assistance programming, fostering safer communities for women and girls.
6. Expanded Engagement and Network: Enhanced engagement with stakeholders and expanding the Forcibly Displaced Women and Girls’ Supporting Network (FDWG-SN) Network will ensure sustained support and collaboration for response to future emergencies, women’s rights, and protection issues.
