Promoting Government Accountability through Civil Society Actors 2016

• Track and Monitor Government Commitments: Monitor and report the status of the National Unity Government’s (NUG) commitments to promote transparency and accountability through civil society, ensuring that Afghan people’s demands and rights are represented.
• Enhance Accountability for Public Services and Programs: Hold the government accountable for the quality and delivery of services, including the national literacy program, and ensure that it is operational in all 34 provinces.
• Identify and Assess Policies and Budgets: Evaluate the plans, policies, mechanisms, and budgets that are developed for fulfilling government commitments, aimed at enhancing transparency and reducing corruption.
• Engage Stakeholders for Monitoring and Advocacy: Work with key ministries, civil society organizations (CSOs), donors, and the public to monitor commitments, raise awareness, and advocate for better governance.

  • Implement Public Outreach and Advocacy Campaigns: Conduct public outreach and advocacy campaigns at national and provincial levels to raise awareness of government commitments, promote transparency, and advocate for accountability.
  • Advocate for Health Centers and Anti-Corruption Measures: Push for the establishment of health centers and the implementation of anti-corruption initiatives to reduce violence against women.
  • Equip Citizens with Monitoring Tools: Train beneficiaries on tools, techniques, and digital platforms to continuously monitor government activities and commitments at national, provincial, and district levels.

Publicize Government Progress: Publicize and report on the progress of government initiatives and commitments to advocate for continued accountability and transparency.
